The Madrague de Giens Wreck (1972-1982)

Dr. Laetitia Cavassa is specialized in the study of potteries from the Hellenistic and Roman period. She has worked since 2002 in southern Italy on different sites in the bay of Naples like Cumae and Pompeii. She has focused her research interests on italic pottery production which lead her to direct in Pompeii the excavation of two pottery workshops known to be in activity during the 79 CE Vesuvius eruption. She recently (2018), obtained a PhD in Archaeology at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes in Paris. She is an archaeologist at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), working in the Centre Camille Jullian, a laboratory of Aix Marseille University and of the CNRS based in Aix-en-Provence in south of France.
