Dibsi Faraj, Life of a Citadel on the Euphrates. Results of a Rescue Excavation from the Tabqa Dam Project

Anna Leone is professor at the Department of Archaeology, at Durham University. She is specialised in the study of the late Antique, Early Byzantine and early Islamic periods (4^th to 9^th/10^th c) in the Mediterranean, with focus on the transformation of urban areas, impact of Christianisation and Islamication. She has published two monographs (Changing Townscapes in north Africa from Late Antiquity to the Arab Conquest, Bari 2007 and The End of the Pagan City, Oxford 2013), three edited volumes and over 80 articles published in peer review journals. She is an experienced field-archaeologist. She is involved in the protection of heritage in the MENA region, capacity buildings and fight against illicit traffic. She has recently directed a major project in Libya and Tunisia, Training in Action, funded by the Cultural Protection Funds (British Council). In 2017 she was Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks to work on the publication of the Dibsi Faraj Archive.
