Claudia Näser (M.Phil. 1995 University of Cambridge, Ph.D. 2001 Humboldt University Berlin) is Lecturer in Egyptian Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology at University College London. As an Egyptologist and Africanist archaeologist, her research focuses on the archaeology of Egypt and Nubia from prehistory to Islam, mortuary archaeology, the social and political dimension of archaeological practice, and collaborative practices in archaeology.

Claudia has participated widely in archaeological fieldwork in Egypt and Sudan since 1992. Currently she directs the Shalfak Archaeological Mission and the Mograt Island Archaeological Mission. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Egyptian Archaeology for which she launched a mentoring programme for Egyptian and Sudanese authors.
