The Prehistoric Tumuli of Marathon, Greece
Prof. Gilles Touchais is the lead researcher for the Shelby White and Leon Levy Program project, in close collaboration with Prof. Maria Pantelidou Gofa, Anna Philippa-‐Touchais and Dr. Nikolas Papadimitriou. He specialises on the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods of Mainland Greece, with emphasis on the Middle Helladic. From 1974 onwards he carried out, together with Anna Philippa–Touchais, excavations at the Middle Helladic settlement on the Aspis hill, Argos, on behalf of the French School at Athens; they are now preparing the full publication of the excavation in two volumes, the first of which is currently on press. Since 1993 he has also led a French–Albanian multidisciplinary project focused on the prehistory of south-east Albania, excavating at the lakeside settlements of Sovjan (Korça basin) and Kallamas (lake of Prespa); the results of these excavations are also being published.
