Open Research in Failaka: processing archives of the French Mission in Kuwait (1983- 2009) for open access dissemination and final publication of Al-Qusur monastery excavations (1988-1989 & 2007-2009)
Dr. Julie Bonnéric is an archaeologist, currently a researcher at the French Institute of the Near East (Ifpo) and head of Amman branch (Jordan). She has been excavating in Kuwait since 2007 and was a member of the French Mission in Kuwait. She this She is the lead researcher for this Shelby White and Leon Levy Program project and will coordinate the participants in charge of the research component and edit the monograph. She has been the co-director of the French-Kuwaiti Archaeological Mission in Failaka since 2014 and director of the Jarash Eastern Project in Jordan since 2022. She is a specialist in early and middle Islamic periods in the Middle East and her research focuses on the religious and social evolutions following the conquests. She has a particular interest in the question of senses history, the monasticism in Iraq and the Peninsula, and the region of north Jordan at the Umayyad period.
