The publication of the West Wing of the Minoan palace of Kato Zakros

Lefteris Platon is Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology at the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he also completed his undergraduate studies in archaeology. He completed his graduate studies in the University of Bristol (UK), where he also defended his PhD thesis on Minoan workshop areas. He is the author of monographs and numerous articles and book chapters on the material culture of Bronze Age (Minoan) Crete and has participated in several international conferences on specialized issues of Aegean prehistory. A substantial part of his research activity has focused on the publication of Bronze Age Cretan sites, including Piskokephalo near Sitia and Chondros Viannou. He is a Member of the Administrative Board of the Athens Archaeological Society and had also been a Member of the Central Archaeological Council of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

Since 1992, he has directed the Zakros Project focused on the preparation of the final publication of Nikolaos Platon’s excavation in the Minoan settlement of Zakros, in the Sitia region, far-east Crete.
