The Chapels and Niches for the Cult of Amenhotep I at Karnak

Dr. Louisa Ben Hamida is an Egyptologist specializing in the study of royal cult practices, temple epigraphy and iconography, and the interplay between ritual and visual culture in ancient Egypt, with a particular focus on the temple of Amun-Ra at Karnak. She holds a PhD in Egyptology from the University Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 (2024). Her doctoral research, fully funded by the CNRS, examined the royal cult at Karnak until the end of the Eighteenth Dynasty.

She is currently a research associate at UMR 5140 Archéologie des Sociétés Méditerranéennes and the CFEETK (CNRS UAR 3172). Since 2021, she has been actively involved in fieldwork at Karnak, contributing to the documentation, study, and reconstruction of royal cult monuments, particularly those of Amenhotep I, including within the Open-Air Museum project. Her current research focuses on these monuments, combining epigraphy, iconographic analysis, and digital documentation.
