Maia Pomadère
The Area Pi at Malia, Crete. Archaeology of a Minoan urban district
Maia Pomadère has participated in several archaeological missions in Greece and has been director of the archaeological excavations in the Area Pi at Malia since 2005. She was a scientific member of the French school of Archaeology at Athens (EFA) and obtained her PhD in archaeology of Aegean Prehistory at the University Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne (2007). She has taught as a lecturer in Greek history at the University of Picardie (Amiens), and since 2016 in Aegean archaeology at the University Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne. She co-directed an interdisciplinary program on the paleoenvironment of Malia and she is particularly interested in household archaeology, urban development and activities that reflect the interactions between inhabitants and their environment. As lead researcher for this Shelby White and Leon Levy Program project, she is responsible for the general publication of the excavations in the Area Pi and will coordinate the contributions of the specialists; she is also personally in charge of studying the stratigraphy and architecture and will supervise the preparation of the graphic documentation and 3D models of the buildings.
