The Madrague de Giens Wreck 

Dr. Pierre Poveda is a nautical archaeologist specialized in the study and reconstruction of ancient Mediterranean shipwrecks. He completed his PhD at the Aix-Marseille University in 2012, working on displacements and nautical qualities of ancient ships through the use of 3D modeling. In 2013, within the “Prôtis Project” he was in charge of the construction and of the navigation of Gyptis: the sailing replica of a Greco-Massaliote boat of the 6th c. BCE, whose wreck was found in 1993 near the old harbor in Marseille. He is an archaeologist at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), working in the Centre Camille Jullian, a laboratory of Aix Marseille University and of the CNRS based in Aix-en-Provence in south of France.
