Yavneh I: The Excavation of the "Temple Hill" Repository Pit and the Cult Stands

Since 2009 Raz Kletter has been Docent for Near-Eastern Archaeology at the University of Helsinki and member of two Centres of Excellence there. His main interests are Near Eastern Archaeology (Bronze and Iron Ages), religion and cult, pre-monetary economy, archaeological theory, heritage, and the history of archaeology in Israel/Palestine. He has excavated sites from various periods (and published fully all his excavations) and written extensively in all these fields

Since the completion of the Yavneh project, Dr. Kletter has published two monographs. The first is a double excavation volume (together with Y. Levy) of Middle Bronze Age cemeteries with hundreds of tombs: Rishon le-Zion I. The Middle Bronze Age Cemeteries (Vol. I/1: The Excavations; Vol. I/2: Finds and Conclusions). The second is Archaeology, Heritage and Ethics in the Western Wall Plaza, Jerusalem: Darkness at the End of the Tunnel (Routledge, 2019).
