Kalyvia: A Final Palatial Cemetery in the Territory of Phaistos, Crete

Dr. Santo Privitera received his PhD in archaeology and ancient history from the University of Venice in 2008, specializing in Aegean civilizations. A former member of the Italian Archaeological School at Athens (2001–2003), he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Aegean Prehistory (2010) and in 2011 –2015 was a postdoctoral researcher at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He is currently an assistant professor at the Department of History and Cultures of the University of Bologna, Italy. In collaboration with Dr. Athanasia Kanta, he is the lead researcher for this Shelby White and Leon Levy Program project. He has widely published on various archaeological periodicals and is the author of five books: Case e rituali a Creta nel periodo Neopalaziale(Athens: Italian School of Archaeology, 2008), I granai del re (Padua: University of Venice, 2010), Principi, Pelasgi e Pescatori: L’Attica nella Tarda Età del Bronzo (Athens: Italian School of Archaeology, 2013); Haghia Triada, III: The Late Minoan III Buildings in the Villaggio (Athens: Italian School of Archaeology, 2015); Phaestia Tellus (Rome: Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, 2025).
