The Fortifications of Hatra

Enrico Foietta is Assistant Professor at the University of Torino, where he directs two laboratory courses in Near Eastern and Hellenistic–Parthian archaeology and teaches the archaeology of pre-Islamic Central Asia. He is involved in several archaeological missions in Iraq, serving as trench supervisor at Seleucia on the Tigris (UniTO–CRAST), specialist in Hellenistic and Parthian material culture at Assur (LMU), participant in the ISMEO–University of Padova Expedition at Hatra, and Deputy Director of the HaSSP (CAMNES) project on the statuary of Hatra housed in the Iraq Museum, Baghdad. He has collaborated with CRAST (Centro Ricerche Archeologiche e Scavi di Torino per il Medio Oriente e l’Asia) for more than ten years and serves on the editorial board of the journal Parthica. His research interests focus on the architecture, material culture, and landscapes of the Hellenistic and Parthian periods.
